How Sweet It Is to be a Northview Knight!

As the excitement of a new school year begins, it is my pleasure to welcome our students, families, staff, and the entire Northview community to the 2026-2027 school year! Our theme, How Sweet It Is, celebrates the many aspects that make Northview Elementary School such a special place! 

The perfect recipe for a successful school year is made from many important ingredients-curiosity, kindness, perseverance, friendships, laughter, and a strong partnership between school and home. Year after year our Northview Knights rise to high expectations. We invite parents, grandparents, guardians, and family members to join us as partners to continue pushing our students to their full potential. Whether you’re reading together at home, practicing math fluency, attending family events, communicating with your child’s teacher, or celebrating accomplishments along the way, your involvement, encouragement, and positivity toward school can make an incredible difference. 

One of the most important ways families can support student success is by making school attendance a top priority. When students are present and engaged, they build the skills, confidence, and connections that set the foundation for lifelong learning. Daily consistency and routine is key to establishing these values. Let’s work together to ensure that we learn together with Every Knight, Every Day!

As we kick off the school year, our shared expectations for student behavior continue to center around three essential anchors: Respect, Responsibility, and Safety. Whether in the classroom, on the playground, or in our community, we believe these values guide our students to be leaders, friends, and engaged citizens.

Reminder:

• Clear backpacks are required for all students. The entire backpack must be made of clear plastic or vinyl. Small fabric trim or colored straps are allowed, but the main compartments must be completely see-through. Mesh backpacks do not meet the requirement. Clear backpacks may have a logo, but it should not obstruct visibility. Lunchboxes must be smaller than a bag or box designed to hold items 8.5x11. 

Annual Info:

• Our doors open at 7:15 for morning drop off, INSTRUCTION BEGINS at 7:40 (7:41 is Tardy), the school day ends at 2:45. 
• Kindergarten families, make plans to join us for our JUMPSTART opportunity on August 3rd from 8:30-11:30. To register you may complete the google form on Facebook or call our school at (859) 497-8703. Kindergarten parents will return at 11:00 that day for a parent meeting. You will have the opportunity for a Q&A time with myself, Ms. Lansdale (Assistant Principal), Mrs. Mora (School Counselor), Mrs. Sara (Attendance Clerk), and Ms. Shillington (FRC Director).
• OPEN HOUSE: All K-5 families, join us for Open House on August 6th from 4:30-6:30 to commemorate the beginning of the school year for your Knight! Preschool students and families are welcome to open house on August 17th, 4:30-5:30 for AM session students, 5:30-6:30 for PM session students. 
• If you have interest in experiencing a School-Based Decision Making Council meeting, please note that our meeting schedule for the school year will occur on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 3:15 in the library. Our parent representatives serving our council for the upcoming school year are Samantha Sutton, Leah Ginter and Julissa Sargent. Our teacher representatives serving our council for the upcoming school year are Katie Buckman, Lauren High, Erin Lueker, and Faith Rudd.
